The commonly used specifications for wires in automotive wire harnesses include nominal cross-sectional areas of 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 4.0, 6.0 square millimeters, each with its allowable load current values, suitable for wires used in different power electrical devices. Taking the whole vehicle wire harness as an example, 0.5 specification wire is suitable for instrument lights, indicator lights, door lights, ceiling lights, etc.; 0.75 specification wire is suitable for license plate lights, front and rear small lights, brake lights, etc.; 1.0 specification wire is suitable for turn signals, fog lights, etc.; 1.5 specification wire is suitable for front headlights, horns, etc.; the main power lines, such as generator armature wires and grounding wires, require 2.5 to 4 square millimeter wires.
This refers only to general automobiles; the key is to look at the maximum load current value. For example, the grounding wire and positive power wire of the battery are specialized automotive wires used separately, and their wire diameters are relatively large, at least over ten square millimeters. These "giant" wires will not be included in the main harness.
